GOODPASTURE, Mary Jane

Death came suddenly to Mary Jane Goodpasture, daughter of Anderson and Henrietta Goodpasture Friday evening at 8 o’clock, Feb 28, 1930 at the age of 82 years 11 months 8 days. She was born in Bath Co KY March 20, 1848.  Her early life was spent in KY and at the age of 18 years, Sept 1, 1866 was united in marriage to Larkin Goodpasture of Bath Co, Ky. After three years of marriage they came to Indiana to live until his death March 24, 1924. To this union was born 11 children 3 of whom preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her loss, Nannie, Ella, Anderson, Nora, Sammie, Bertha, Grover and Johnie, 23 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.  At the age of 48 years she united with the Baptist Church of Mill Creek and until failing health prevented, she attended regular and even then, still expressed a desire to go. For the past two years she has made her home with Frank and Nellie Hurst and loved Nellie as her own. She was a devoted wife and mother and always ready to bear her part of life’s responsibilities.  She has been in failing health for several years but was very patient. So we feel that she has passed from a world of sorrow and has gained a new life that has no pain. She did not fear – Christ went before, The way was not dark, And safe beyond the troubled stream Her Tired heart’s strife o’er Our angel mother, glorified, will grow old never more.  Card of Thanks – We desire to express our thanks to our relatives, neighbors and friends, especially the Hurst family for sympathy shown during the death of our Mother. We also desire to extend our thanks to the Rev. Gill and McCammack, the singers, the church, for flowers and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Reed, undertakers for their efficient service. -kbz
